IIST Admission Programs 2018-2019 | Eligibility Criteria | Reservation

The IIST Admission: Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology is declared as a deemed to be autonomous university body which works beneath the Department of Space the DOS, which is working on the 100 acres of land which is situated at Valiamala and was formed during the year 2007. THE Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology has many of the academic education programs which are named as B. Tech, M. Tech / M.S, Doctoral and post-doctoral programs in the department which are related to the Avionics, Aerospace Engineering, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Chemistry, Humanities, Earth System Science, Mathematics, Physics and Remote Sensing with the main target on Space Science & Technology.

The IIST declares admission to the programs of undergraduate and dual-degree programs for the year of 2017-2018,:The B. Tech program is for four years in the field of Aerospace Engineering & having only 60 seats.

  • The B. Tech program is for four years in the field of Avionics & having only 60 seats.
  • The B. Tech & M.S/M. Tech Dual Degree programs is for five years & having only 20 seats.

The B. Tech & M.S/M. Tech Dual Degree programs five years leads to B. Tech degree in Physics Engineering and leads tp one of the post-graduate degree specialization such as:

  • M.S in Astronomy & Astrophysics.
  • M.S in Earth System Science.
  • M.S in Solid Physics.
  • M. Tech in Optical Engineering.

After the end of four years, there is no exit option for the candidate. The Applicants who are willing to go for the above programs must have to appear the exam of JEE Advanced 2017 which are conducted by the IIT”s.

IIST Admission Ranks List: IIST Admission Rank list are generated
only for those candidates who has register on-line for admission to IIST and has to fulfill all the eligibility criteria. IIST
Admission Rank list are ready supported their JEE -2017 All-India Rank(including class
rank). The IIST net portal for on-line registration are open from twenty-second May, up to twelfth Jun 2017.
The IIST Admission counseling is arranged throughout the fourth week of June 2017.

IIST Admission

Eligibility Criteria for BE / B. Tech 2018-2019:

The Bachelor of Technology B. Tech is for four years program which consists of;

  1. Aerospace Engineering is having only sixty seats.
  2. Avionics Engineering is having only sixty seats.

The Dual Degree B, Tech & M. Tech / M.S is for five years program which consists of:

  1. Tech Physics & M. Tech Optical Engineering having only twenty seats.
  2. Tech Physics & M.S Earth System Science is having only twenty seats.
  3. Tech Physics & M.S Solid State Physics is having only twenty seats.
  4. Tech Physics & M.S Astronomy & Astrophysics is having only twenty seats.

Eligibility for Qualifying Examination 2018-2019:

Candidates looking for admission must have passed their Qualifying Examination that is (10+2 or Equivalent), with Physics, Chemistry, and arithmetic (PCM).
A candidate seeking admission should have secured a minimum of the seventieth percentage of marks in Physics, Chemistry and arithmetic (PCM) within the qualifying examination. Those candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD class ought to need associate of a minimum of sixty percentage of marks within the qualifying examination.

Citizenship & Date of Birth:

Applicants looking for admission must be of Indian status and should be born on or after 1st Oct 1991.
Applicants looking for admission who belongs to Schedule Caste (SC), regular Tribes (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PD) classes should be born on or after 1st Oct 1986.

JEE(Main) & JEE(Advanced)–2018-2019 Examination:

Applicants seeking admission should go for the Joint Entrance Exam (Main) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Edu (CBSE) so as to qualify for the Joint Entrance exam (Advanced), which are conducted by IITs.
Applicants seeking admission should secure the minimum Score as prescribed in JEE (Advanced) as given below:

General  20% 5%
OBC-NCL 18% 50%
SC /ST / PD 10% 5%


The application process for BE / B. Tech 2018-2019:

Candidates looking for the admission have to register for B. Tech/ Dual degree admission by the online admission portal which is accessible at the official website of the IIST.

After fulfilling the submission successfully of all the proper details, the candidate should transfer and take the print out of the generated bank challan for remitting the specified application charge.

The candidate should pay the charges of the fee by the bank procedure with the help of challan and take the transaction details with him.

Now the candidates have to complete the registration process by entering the transaction details of the bank using applicants login and upload the receipt of bank challan.

The candidates looking for the admission are designated for entry to B. Tech / Dual Degree programs on the premises of their scores in JEE Main & JEE Advanced.

Reservation Seat process for B. E/ B. Tech:

As per the rules of Govt. of India some of the seats are kept reserved for the candidates of certain categories which are shown below:

For Scheduled Caste SC. The reserved seats are around 15%.

For Scheduled Tribes ST. The reserved seats are around 7.50%.

For other Backwards Castes OBC. The reserved seats are around 27%.

For Persons with Disabilities PD. The reserved seats are around 3%.

The qualifying examination ought to be any of the following:

HSC (10+2) examination conducted by Central Board of instruction (CBSE), Council for Indian faculty Certificate Examination (ISCE), etc.
